Wheel Bearing Symptoms

Noisy wheel bearings will only make noise when the car is in motion. They will get louder the faster you go. The noise will change pitch, or get louder or softer when you turn right or left. Engine speed and changing gears will not affect the noise. You can even shut the engine off while coasting to listen to the noise. There are two types of bearings in modern FWD or AWD cars and SUV's.

Press in: This style requires more labor and special tools. For this reason it is unlikely I can replace it at your location. Common with Asian cars.

Bolt in: This style includes the hub, wheel studs, and ABS sensor. The assembly bolts to the knuckle. Common with domestic cars.
